Japan is the last country in the group of leading industrialized countries (G7) to reopen its embassy in Ukraine as the UK, Canada, France, Germany, Italy and the US all reopened their embassies before this summer.

In March, the Japanese Embassy staff were transferred from Kiev to a temporary liaison office in Ukraine’s western city of Lvov. However, they left Ukraine later that month due to conflict escalation.
