Japan to co-host online vaccine summit on June 2

(VOVWORLD) - Japan will co-host an online summit on June 2 as part of global efforts to ensure an equitable supply of coronavirus vaccines to developing countries.

Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga and Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi will participate in the summit of the Gavi vaccine alliance of governments, international organizations, companies, and charities. 

Among the topics on the agenda will be the planned delivery of 1.8 billion doses of vaccine to cover 30 percent of the population of developing countries this year. To that end, attendees will discuss ways to raise 1.7 billion USD.
Iran on Tuesday said it has begun mass production of domestic COVID-19 vaccine. Iran plans to produce 1 million doses of COV-Iran Barekat by May 21, and around 10 million doses of the vaccine by June. The Barekat Foundation is producing the vaccine.
