Japan's PM safe after explosion in speech area

(VOVWORLD) -A loud explosion occurred in the Saikazaki fishing port of Wakayama Prefecture, Japan, right before Prime Minister Kishida Fumio was about to give a speech. He was immediately evacuated from the scene.

Prime Minister Kishida was said to have inspected the area and scheduled to give a speech ahead of the upcoming local elections. Security cameras showed a man throwing what looked like golden antique jewelry, then an explosion was heard.
The suspect was apprehended soon after. Police are investigating the incident and ensuring safety of Prime Minister Kishida.
