Lao Cai seeks strategic investors for Sa Pa Airport project
(VOVWORLD) - Lao Cai is focusing resources on a series of breakthrough infrastructure projects, including the Sa Pa Airport, to realize its strategic goal of becoming a growth hub and a center connecting trade between Vietnam, ASEAN, and Southwest China.

At a working session with Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra on Monday, the leaders of Lao Cai province said the airport will meet 4C standards (as classified by the International Civil Aviation Organization – ICAO), with a capacity of 1.5 million passengers per year and serve as a level-II military airport.
Deputy Minister of Construction Le Anh Tuan said building the airport will help Lao Cai boost its economy, especially tourism: “Aviation and tourism are like two wings. To attract high-end and international visitors, we must develop aviation. I hope the province will continue to study and propose the state budget support ratio and, most importantly, find a strategic investor.”
