(VOVWORLD) - Lebanese parliamentarians confirmed Prime Minister Najib Mikati's new cabinet on Monday after an eight-hour session.
Mikati has stressed the need to restructure Lebanon’s banking system and resume talks with the International Monetary Fund to kick-start Lebanon’s recovery from its economic crisis.
Lebanese Prime Minister-designate Najib Mikati announced a new government on September 10 after 13 months without a government and numerous failed attempts to form one.
Lebanon had been without a fully-empowered government since the catastrophic explosion at the port of Beirut port in August last year, which forced the resignation of then-Prime Minister Hassan Diab’s government.
