(VOVworld) – Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf imposed a night curfew in the capital city of Monrovia on Wednesday and quarantined infected areas.

Sirleaf’s order was issued after the death toll from Ebola in Liberia had risen to 53. Sirleaf said that all entertainment centres had to be closed by 6 p.m. and warned that local customs were one of the reasons for the spread of Ebola. Lewis Brown, the Liberian Information Minister, announced the return of 17 infected patients who had been forced to leave a medical centre in West Point last Saturday. Their disappearances have aroused concerns about the possible spread at the highest level in Monrovia. Brown said that 3 African medical officers, who had used ZMapp earlier, had had a “remarkable improvement”.
