Meeting between diplomatic corps and localities held in Can Tho

(VOVworld) – A leading Vietnamese diplomat says that the Mekong Delta plays an important role in the country’s socio-economic development. Deputy Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son was speaking at the exchange program between the localities in the Mekong sub-region and diplomatic corps.

The event is under the program to mark the 37th anniversary of the liberation of southern Vietnam and national reunification and 10th year of the implementation of Politburo Resolution on the building and development of the Mekong Delta region during the 2001-2010 period. Son also highlighted the great potentials for regional comprehensive development and the Ministry’s efforts to promote regional development. “The diplomatic sector of Vietnam and localities nationwide have joined hands to organize the exchange with an aim to boost local socio-economic development. The introduction of Vietnam’s potentials, demands and opportunities will deepen the relationship with the international community and integrate the local companies more into the world,” said the Deputy Foreign Minister.

On behalf of the diplomatic corps, El Houcine Fardani, Moroccan ambassador in to Vietnam expressed his belief that with its potentials in agriculture, fisheries, and tourism, the Mekong Delta region will work out an efficient strategy for sustainable development.
