The Mexican National Institute of Migration (INM) reported that on Tuesday, Mexican authorities received the first 56 deported individuals in the border city of Ciudad Juárez and another 120 people in the city of Matamoros. Most were migrants from Mexico and Venezuela.

The Mexican government will screen the deportees before transferring them to Mexico City for temporary lodging while awaiting repatriation procedures. The government will give each deported Mexican citizen 2,000 pesos (about 97 USD) to help with living expenses and travel costs as they seek resettlement.

On his first day in office, President Trump signed 10 executive orders related to southern border security, mass deportations, and combating illegal immigration. Trump said the total number of undocumented immigrants deported could reach 11 million, including more than 4 million from Mexico.
