Military continues to help southern provinces fight COVID-19 after social distancing eased

(VOVWORLD) - As the southern provinces will ease social distancing and resume production and trade from October1, military forces will continue to support them fight COVID-19 until all provinces finish vaccination to achieve herd immunity, said Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam.

At a meeting with the Defense Ministry in Ho Chi Minh City on Wednesday, Mr. Dam, who is deputy head of the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control, said the pandemic in Ho Chi Minh City and southern provinces has basically been controlled with the number of new infections falling. 

Senior lieutenant-general Vo Minh Luong, Head of the government’s special task force on pandemic prevention and control in Ho Chi Minh City and southern provinces, said that after social distancing is eased from October1, military forces will adjust their missions and work more closely with localities and peple to quickly contain the pandemic.
