The supervisory report features assessments of child abuse; the issuance of policies and laws on child abuse prevention and control; the enforcement of those policies and laws; causes, responsibility and lessons; solutions and proposals to improve the fight against child abuse in the time ahead.

Deputy Nguyen Van Hien from Lam Dong province said: “I think the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs should have an in-depth survey on the number of child abuse cases to map our future solutions and policy making orientations. The draft resolution by the National Assembly should set out specific targets to reduce the number of cases over the next decade and accountability for each ministry and sector.”

Deputy Nguyen Mai Bo from An Giang province called for more awareness raising for people from all walks of life to better protect and care for children:“Local authorities should treat adult inducement of children into negative behaviors as child abuse. District People’s Council should include this topic into their supervisory agenda with consultation from the police force.”

The Assembly’s ninth session is taking place online until Friday. Deputies will gather at the National Assembly building in Hanoi for plenary meetings from June 8 to 18.
