Moscow holds off on peace talks with Kiev because of Kursk offensive

(VOVWORLD) -Moscow is not ready to hold peace talks with Kiev right now because of its incursion into Russia's Kursk region, Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov said Monday, but added Russia is not withdrawing its previous peace proposal.

Moscow will decide whether to maintain its suspension of negotiations with Kiev according to the situation on the battlefield, said Ushakov.

Russian marines captured a group of 19 Ukrainian soldiers in Kurskon Monday, according to the state RIA news agency. Meanwhile, the Russian southern city of Proletarsk declared a state of emergency after an oil facility was attacked by a Ukrainian drone, causing a fire that lasted for more than 24 hours.

Germany and its partners in the Group of Seven (G7) are finalizing a plan to give Ukraine military aid which was agreed upon at the G7 Summit in June.
