National Book Awards announced

(VOVWORLD) -The 8th National Book Awards, which involved 46 out of 52 publishing houses nationwide with 397 book titles and sets, were announced at Sunday ceremony in Hanoi.

The number of entries was higher than last year, 25 more book titles and sets, showing the positive interest and response from publishers. It was organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in coordination with the Party Central Committee’s Communication, Education and Mass Mobilization Commission, the Vietnam Publishers Association, and Vietnam Television.

Assoc. Prof., Dr. Nguyen Ba Cuong, Editor-in-Chief of the University of Pedagogy Publishing House, whose book "Vietnamese History in Pictures" was awarded the A prize, said “This book provides researchers with a new approach to history and benefits those involved in teaching and learning history."

"We hope the book will be translated into other languages so that international friends and readers can access this publication that covers the entire length of our nation's history. There is no other way to access Vietnamese history than through publications like this,” Cuong added. 

Organizers presented 2 A Prizes; 17 B Prizes; 23 C Prizes; 5 Encouragement Prizes; and 5 Reader's Favorite Book Prizes.
