(VOVworld) – A ceremony was held in Ha Giang on Friday to review the implementation of a national cow bank program for poor people in border areas. President Truong Tan Sang hailed the program’s significance in helping people living near the border escape poverty and contributing to national development and defense. He said: "I call on ministries, sectors, and localities to further support local poor households. It would be of great help to improve communication activities to promote the Party and State’s policies targeting poor people and encourage people nationwide to share hardships with their fellow countrymen in the border areas. This will contribute to national security and build a border of peace, friendship, and cooperation for common development."

He asked authorities at all levels to further improve local living standards, especially through the national "cow bank" program for poor border localities, and to protect and develop natural resources in the border areas.
