(VOVWORLD) -2,000 yogis from 49 Yoga clubs of 24 cities and provinces attended the opening ceremony of the 2020 National Yoga Festival in Thanh Hoa province on Sunday.
Addressing the event, Dr. G.B Harisa, First Secretary and Director of the Sagoami Vivekanada Cultural Center at the Indian Embassy, highlighted the significance of Yoga in human life, saying the practice originating from India enables people to discover their own inner world physically, mentally and spiritually.
At the ceremony, Yoga practitioners demonstrated performances, from basic to complex exercises inside the provincial sport competition hall.
June 21 has been designated as International Yoga Day since 2015 by the UN General Assembly.
