Ms. Takaichi made the statement at her first press conference on Saturday after winning the LDP leadership election, outlining her domestic, foreign, security, and economic policy directions.
Ms. Takaichi emphasized the need for policy agreements to form a government with a new party and called for cooperation from opposition forces to quickly adopt effective measures to tackle inflation. She also reaffirmed the importance of maintaining the current coalition framework with the Komeito Party.
As for LDP leadership appointments, she left open the possibility of appointing the four other LDP presidential candidates to ministerial or key party positions.
On economic and domestic policy, she expressed readiness to issue more government bonds to cover fiscal deficits and finance growth stimulus measures. Takaichi also aims to tighten foreign investment screening to safeguard economic security and introduce stricter regulations on visa overstays and foreign land acquisitions.
