The Nobel Peace Prize is the fifth prize announced during this year's season, following the Nobel Prizes in Biomedicine, Chemistry, Physics and Literature.

The Nobel Peace Prize is the only one awarded in Norway. Since 1901, 102 Nobel Peace Prizes have been awarded to 137 individuals and organizations. Last year, Filipino and Russian journalists, Maria Ressa and Dmitry Muratov, were honored.
