A spokesman for South Korea's Ministry of Unification said North Korea sent a letter via hot line from the truce village of Panmunjom yesterday saying that it will permit South Korean companies to enter the jointly-run Kaesong industrial zone to conduct urgent measures relating to the facilities and equipment which might be damaged in the rainy season.
Pyongyang will also allow officials of the Kaesong industrial zone’s Management Board to visit the complex. Pyongyang said that when they are informed of an impending visit, they will take necessary measures. The same day, 46 South Korean companies in Kaesong asked the government to support them in relocating their factories to Seoul or elsewhere abroad.
