PM applauds Korean leading groups’ business activities in Vietnam

(VOVWORLD) -The Vietnamese Government will create favorable conditions for Republic of Korean Hyosung Group's business activities in Vietnam, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said at a reception for Cho Hyun-joon, Chairman of Hyosung Group, in Seoul, on Monday.

The Prime Minister affirmed that he supports the signing of a cooperation agreement between Hyosung and Ba Ria-Vung Tau province to develop Ba Ria-Vung Tau into a production center for biotechnology and advanced materials of Vietnam and the region.

He asked Hyosung to always pay attention to environmental protection and promote links with domestic businesses so that Vietnamese businesses can participate in the value chain. He also suggested that the Republic of Korean Group increase the use of materials that Vietnam can produce and pay attention to ensuring welfare for workers.

Hyosung Group has invested nearly 5.1 billion USD in eight companies and one branch, employed 9,000 people, and earned a 2023 revenue of 3.5 billion USD in Vietnam.

At a meeting with Shin Dong-bin, Chairman of Lotte Group, Republic of Korea's 5th largest multinational corporation, Prime Minister Chinh applauded Lotte's business and investment activities in Vietnam. He said Vietnam welcomes and hopes Lotte will continue to expand investment in strong areas such as smart urban development to  promote tourism.

During his official visit to Korea, on Monday afternoon in Seoul, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh addressed the Vietnam-Korea Labor Cooperation Forum, where he stressed the need to elevate labor cooperation commensurate with a comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.

The Prime Minister suggested that Korea continue to take the lead in training international human resources, including Vietnamese workers, to forge more effective, sustainable human resource cooperation and bring benefits to both. He asked for highly qualified experts and managers to be sent to work in Vietnam.

PM Chinh emphasized continued increase in the quota for receiving Vietnamese workers under the Employment Permit Program (EPS), workers in the shipbuilding, agriculture, fisheries industries and new occupations that Korea needs such as information technology, nursing and services, as well as an increase the number of workers admitted in Korean language exams.
