(VOVworld) – North Korean leader Kim Jong-un told the 7^th Congress of the Workers’ Party that the 4^th nuclear test in January and the missile launch in February brought his country “dignity and national power”.  In his 15-minute speech, Mr. Kim said North Korea had steadily progressed towards a prosperous country thanks to efforts and hard work by government officials and people.

The congress convened on May 6^th in Pyongyang with about 3,000 participants. Over 100 foreign reporters were invited to Pyongyang for the event. The delegates will discuss national political and economic issues and middle and long-term development plans. The Congress will decide new policies and changes in the Party and State personnel.
