During a closed-door meeting with leaders of the Jewish communities at the White House on Tuesday, Obama said that if the US Congress rejected the deal, he or his predecessor would have to make a hard decision about whether to use force to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons.
Obama’s meeting took place a few hours after Netanyahu held an online meeting with 10,000 American Jews. Netanyahu called the agreement between Iran and the P5+1 “a bad deal,” which would help Iran develop nuclear bombs. He reiterated Israel’s policy of pursing peace and denied Obama’s statement that the Iran nuclear deal’s critics wanted war.
