(VOVworld) - Pakistani ministers and opposition politicians met anti-government protesters on Wednesday in Islamabad in a bid to end a week-long political crisis that has rattled the restive nuclear-armed nation.

Among the talks’ participants were government representatives, head of the Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) movement, cleric Tahir ul- Qadri, and leader of Pakistan’s Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, Imran Khan. Speaking after the talks, Punjab governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar, said the talks had been carried out in a supportive and sincere manner, voicing his hope that things would become better in the coming days. Meanwhile, PTI chairman Imran Khan called for the parliament’s dissolution, as well as reforms to avoid election fraud.
