Party and State leaders receive the President of Myanmar’s Parliament

(VOVworld) -  The Speaker of Myanmar’s Upper House and President of Myanmar’s Parliament, Khin Aung Myint, and his delegation is now in Hanoi on an official visit to Vietnam from June 20 to 24. An official reception for the delegation was held on Friday morning at the Government’s guest house. During talks with Khin Aung Myint after the welcoming ceremony, National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung reiterated that Vietnam attaches great deal of importance to its traditional friendship and mutilateral cooperation with Myanmar. He suggested that both countries continue to exchange senior-level delegations to learn about each other’s legilative and supervisory experiences. This will enhance mutual understanding amongst MPs from both countries. Both leaders also agreed to set up a Parliamentary Friendship Group. Chairman Hung suggested that both countries continue to create the best possible conditions for investors from both countries, while working together and supporting each other at multilateral forums.

Earlier, President Truong Tan Sang received Khin Aung Myint in Hanoi. At the reception, the President said he hoped that both legislative bodies will step up their close cooperation. He said that ministries and sectors in both countries should workout more ways of boosting economic cooperation, set up direct channels so they can exchange information on laws, policies, trade and investment activities. Vietnam and Myanmar should set out specific ways of boosting economic cooperation, he said, adding that besides economics, both countries need to promote ties in other fields, including culture and tourism.
He also suggested that both states step up cooperation at regional and international forums. President Sang said he believed that Myanmar will successfully carry out its duties when it takes over the ASEAN Chair in 2014. Speaker Khin Aung Myint praised the positive changes in Vietnam in recent years, saying he was sure that Vietnam will maintain a healthy macro economy and ensure social welfare.
