Pentagon mobilizes 6,200 National Guard troops to guard Washington
(VOVWORLD) - The US Defense Department announced Friday that 6,200 National Guard troops have been mobilized to Washington DC to provide security following Wednesday's deadly riot at the US Capitol.

According to a defense official, the force may stay for 30 days and will help secure the Capitol building and surrounding areas until President-elect Joe Biden takes office on January 20. The troops will be equipped with shields, body armor, and batons.
