PM Chinh told his guests that on December 22 last year, the UN General Assembly passed a resolution recognizing Lunar New Year as an annual UN holiday, which is good news for nearly 2 billion people around the world.

For Vietnam, the Lunar New Year means a lot as it’s an occasion to reunite, share, and connect family members and communities, he said, adding that people and their families look back on the past year together, express gratitude, send wishes and hope for a better new year.

The Prime Minister emphasized Vietnam’s continued efforts to work with other countries and international organizations to build a more peaceful, happier, and better world, so that everyone, regardless of country, ethnicity, religion, or belief, can have a prosperous and happy life.

The PM expressed his belief that the diplomats will carry forward their roles to promote the friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and other countries and international organizations.

Palestinian Ambassador Saadi Salama, who is head of the diplomatic corps, said he believed that Vietnam will contribute more to maintaining peace and stability in the world, fostering cooperation between countries, promoting multilateralism, and addressing common challenges.
