(VOVWORLD) -Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his New Zealand counterpart Christopher Luxon reiterated their political determination to forge connections in all aspects and support the development of each country.

During their talks in Hanoi on Wednesday, the two leaders agreed to upgrade the Vietnam-New Zealand relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, meeting the aspirations of the two peoples and contributing to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.
The two sides agreed to deepen political and foreign relations, increase delegation exchanges and high-level contacts, maintain bilateral cooperation mechanisms, and effectively implement signed documents. They pledged to continue substantial cooperation in defense and security in the spirit of trust and mutual understanding.
The two Prime Ministers agreed to soon devise a strategy to connect the two economies and push the signing of bilateral cooperation agreements in economics, trade, and investment. They stressed the need to create further breakthroughs in science and technology cooperation, digital transformation, green transformation, agriculture, and response to climate change.
The two sides agreed to promote more vibrant and cohesive people-to-people exchanges through cooperation in education and training, human resource development, labor and tourism.
Discussing regional and global issues, the two sides said Vietnam and New Zealand need to make efforts to promote dialogue and build trust in the region, while strengthening stance coordination and mutual support at regional and global forums.
After the talks, the two Prime Ministers held a joint press conference, presented a Joint Statement on upgrading relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and New Zealand, and witnessed the exchange of cooperation documents in diplomacy, climate change, agriculture, health and education.
