(VOVWORLD) -Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh asked the Ministry of Construction to direct the investor and contractor to speed up the Hau Giang (old)-Ca Mau expressway section project and to complete it before January 31, 2026. This will enable the connection of the trans-Vietnam expressway from the northernmost province of Cao Bang to the southernmost province of Ca Mau.

“Regarding the highway from Can Tho (formerly Hau Giang) to Ca Mau and from Ca Mau at the southernmost tip to Hon Khoai, the procedures have been done. Construction must proceed in "3 shifts, 4 teams," "working day and night, then taking advantage of holidays to work even more," "only discussing work, not retreating," "braving sun, rain, storms and gale" to get things done,” PM Chinh said during his working visit to the Mekong Delta on Sunday.
The Prime Minister and his delegation had an aerial survey of the socio-economic development, national defense, and maritime security situation in the Ca Mau area, and directed the implementation of several infrastructure projects in Ca Mau province.

In Ca Mau province’s Dat Mui area, major infrastructure projects are underway. They include the 18 km road to Hon Khoai Island worth nearly a billion USD; the 81 km Ca Mau-Cai Nuoc and Cai Nuoc-Dat Mui expressway projects with a total investment of 2.28 billion USD; and Hon Khoai dual-use general port project worth over 600 million USD.
Assessing the challenging terrain, geology, and construction conditions, Prime Minister Chinh urged the mobilization of forces and equipment; the application of advanced construction methods and technologies; and the simultaneous implementation of projects both offshore and onshore. He also called for the design of additional interchanges and rest stops at transportation projects, especially the route to Hon Khoai Island, to facilitate tourism development.
“During our aerial survey, we observed the route's positioning and design and suggested adding a beautiful bridge with many parabolic curves that should be a tourist attraction, where tourists can stop to take pictures along the way to the island. The design of the road from Ca Mau Cape to Hon Khoai Island should be a tourist product,” Mr. Chinh added.
The Prime Minister agreed with Ca Mau province’s proposals on measures against coastal erosion and a transportation route connecting the two merged provincial centers of Ca Mau and Bac Lieu.
