President Phuc on Wednesday inspected the implementation of this year’s special amnesty work at Xuan Loc Prison in the southern province of Dong Nai.

At a meeting with leaders of the Ministry of Public Security and the warden of Xuan Loc Prison, he said most of those pardoned have been granted permanent residence registration, citizenship identification, job search assistance, and loans for production and business. That continues to affirm the correct and consistent guidelines and policies of the Party and State of Vietnam in promoting and protecting human rights, ensuring fairness and equality for all, including those serving a prison sentence, President Phuc said.

He directed the fulfillment of this year's amnesty task: “The Ministry of Public Security and the Special Amnesty Advisory Council continue to guide, direct, inspect and urge local police and detention facilities to implement the President's Decision on this year's special amnesty according to the schedule and regulations. Do not make mistakes at any stage. From now until August 29, prisons must continue to scrutinize and check carefully, so as not to affect the amnesty’s humanitarian significance.”

The President asked agencies and localities to enhance their support for released prisoners’ reintegration into society and connect with production facilities and businesses to help them get jobs and stabilize their lives.
