Earlier, President Tokayev and his entourage laid a wreath at the monument to war martyrs and paid tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at his mausoleum in Hanoi.

This marks the first visit of a Kazakh President to Vietnam in 12 years, and it’s also the first time President Tokayev has visited Vietnam since assuming his new position.

Vietnam and Kazakhstan established diplomatic ties in 1992. In July 2008, the Vietnamese Embassy in Kazakhstan commenced operations, and in March 2015, Kazakhstan opened its embassy in Hanoi. The two countries have consistently exchanged high-level delegations and collaborated on both bilateral and multilateral platforms.

President Tokayev’s visit signifies a new chapter in Vietnam-Kazakhstan economic, trade and tourism cooperation. During the visit, the two sides anticipate signing over ten cooperation agreements.
