Today marks the Hung Kings’ death anniversary, a national holiday, which falls on the 10th day of the 3rd lunar month.

This year, Hung Kings’ death anniversary is held on April 17 and April 21 (the 6th and the 10th day of the 3rd lunar month). Last Saturday, April 17, a ritual was held to mark the death anniversary of Lac Long Quan, a semi-mythical King of  ancient Vietnam thousands of years ago. He was the son of Kinh Duong Vuong, the first Hung King.

At the incense offering ceremony on the top of Nghia Linh mountain on Wednesday, April 21, Bui Van Quang, Chairman of Phu Tho Provincial People's Committee, on behalf of more than 90 million Vietnamese people both at home and abroad, read an eulogy, praising the Hung Kings’ great contributions to the founding of the Vietnamese nation.

After a ritual at the Upper Temple, President Nguyen Xuan Phuc laid a wreath at the Hung Kings’ Mausoleum and offered flowers at a relief depicting President Ho Chi Minh and soldiers of the Pioneers Army Corps.

On the same day, President Phuc visited a new rural commune of Tu Xa, Lam Thao district, Phu Tho province.
