(VOVworld) – President Truong Tan Sang and his entourage  visited the Brunei Shell petrol company and the Vietnamese Embassy on Wednesday, the last day of his state visit to Brunei.

At the largest petrol company in Brunei, Mr. Sang welcomed the signing of a contract to trade crude oil worth 250 million USD. On Wednesday afternoon, he attended the Vietnam-Brunei Business Forum, where he spoke highly of Brunei’s investment in Vietnam with a total capital of 4.9 billion USD. President Sang said Vietnam creates all favorable condition for foreign investors: “I think the most important thing is that in all its documents, Vietnam affirms that foreign enterprises doing business in the country are an indispensable part of the national economy. It means if you invest and do business in Vietnam, we consider you Vietnamese people without distinguishing domestic and foreign companies or people. We regularly listen to opinions and suggestions made by domestic and foreign investors to make timely adjustments for policies that haven’t satisfied specific business needs of foreign-invested companies in Vietnam.”

President Sang also underlined Vietnam’s hope to boost the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPP): “As one of countries taking part in the negotiating process, we confirm that Vietnam is very active and wants to promptly end negotiations on the basis of equality and mutual benefits and development.”

On this occasion, the President witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the two countries’ Chambers of Commerce and Industry.

Vietnam and Brunei issued a joint communiqué underlining the visit’s significance to consolidate and enhance the bilateral ties and cooperation as they are marking the 20^th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic relations. Both leaders acknowledged the fine developments of the bilateral friendship and multifaceted cooperation and affirmed further the relations in the future for the two people’s benefits, peace and development of the Asia - Pacific region. Both agreed to soon organize the first meeting of the Bilateral Cooperation Commission. The leaders also stressed the importance of ensuring regional peace and stability, maritime freedom, safety and security in the East Sea, and the settlement of disputes through peaceful means in accordance with international law, in particular the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea. They welcomed ASEAN’s Six-Point Principles on the East Sea and the ASEAN-China Joint Statement on the 10th Anniversary of the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea.  Both sides stressed the necessity to fully observe DOC and work towards the signing of a Code of Conduct in the East Sea.
