President Sang pays tribute at Phu Quoc Martyrs’ Cemetery

(VOVworld) – President Truong Tan Sang on Thursday visited and burned incense at the monument and graves at Phu Quoc Martyrs’ Cemetery to pay tribute to heroic martyrs. Sang was accompanied by members of Vietnam’s Liaison Committee for Former Prisoners of War and leaders of the southern province of Kien Giang.

They are on Phu Quoc Island now to attend a ceremony to mark the 40th anniversary of the return of imprisoned revolutionaries to Hanoi and commemorate the martyrs of Phu Quoc prison. 

Phu Quoc Martyrs’ Cemetery has the graves of 3,700 martyrs who died here during the wars of resistance against the French and American invasion.
