President To Lam concludes State visit to Cambodia

(VOVWORLD) -President To Lam and a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation on Saturday afternoon left Phnom Penh, concluding a State visit to Cambodia at the invitation of Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni.

Earlier, the President visited Metfone, a joint venture company invested by Viettel Military Industry and Telecoms Group and its Cambodian partner.  At the meeting, the President applauded Metfone’s achievements after more than 15 years of its presence in the Cambodian market and said this is a typical example of economic cooperation between the two countries.

President To Lam praised the company's policy of working closely with the Cambodian Government in implementing e-Government when universalizing telecoms services, pioneering in supporting digital transformation in the Government, ministries and sectors of Cambodia, and digital financial development. He said he hopes that Metfone will continue to rise as a leading enterprise in telecommunications, technology, and digital transformation in Cambodia. The President called on Metfone to actively support the Vietnamese business community in Cambodia to develop together, contribute to the socio-economic development of Cambodia and cultivate the Vietnam-Cambodia friendship.

Visiting the Embassy and meeting the Vietnamese community in Cambodia on Saturday afternoon, President To Lam emphasized that the Party and State always care about the Vietnamese community abroad, especially people of Vietnamese origin in Cambodia who are still facing many difficulties. In addition to the attention and support of the Party and State, and the unanimous contribution of businesses, the President requested that the Khmer-Vietnam Association, Vietnamese associations in Cambodia and all people unceasingly strive to improve the spirit of solidarity, help each other overcome difficulties to develop the economy, and comply well with local laws.

Also Saturday afternoon, President To Lam visited the Royal University of Phnom Penh.
