President To Lam holds talks with CPP and Senate President Hun Sen

(VOVWORLD) -Vietnamese and Cambodian leaders honored the assistance, solidarity, bonding, and sacrifice their countries have given to each other during the past struggles for national liberation and today national development, calling it an undeniable truth.

President To Lam held talks with President of the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) and President of the Senate Samdech Techo Hun Sen on Friday in Phnom Penh, where the  two leaders applauded the recent cooperative achievements.

Hun Sen’s emotional words remembered Vietnam's sacrifice in helping Cambodia escape the Pol Pot genocidal regime and revive.

For the two countries' relations to develop stronger, the two sides agreed to actively implement high-level agreements and results of high-level meetings between the two Parties, and increase meetings and contacts between the leaders of both sides, especially between young leaders and young people of the two countries.

They stressed the need to effectively promote the mechanisms of the Vietnam-Cambodia Joint Committee on economic, cultural, scientific and technical cooperation, and the Conference on cooperation and development of border provinces.

The two sides emphasized continuing to develop security and defense cooperation more comprehensively and deeply and being steadfast in the principle of not allowing any hostile force to use the territory of one country to sabotage the other country, considering the security and safety of one country the benefit of the other.

The two leaders especially reiterated the historical value of Vietnam-Cambodia relations and the need to boost innovation and diversify forms of education to the people of the two countries, especially the young generation, so that they will have proper understanding and awareness of the traditional friendship, solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia. They emphasized the resolve to prevent hostile forces from distorting or dividing their countries’ friendship.

Hun Sen stressed the importance of cooperation in human resource development and suggested that Vietnam continue to help Cambodia in this field.

The two sides agreed to continue strengthening cooperation between the three countries of Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia and to maintain and promote effective meetings between the prime ministers, the chairpersons of the National Assembly, the ministers of public security, defense, foreign affairs and leaders of a number of ministries and sectors of the three countries.
