President Truong Tan Sang attends APEC summit in Indonesia

(VOVworld) – President Truong Tan Sang on delivered a speech on Monday as  the 21st Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit  opened the same day in Bali, Indonesia. He called on APEC to be more aggressive in implementing the Bogor targets on trade liberalization and to boost global trade in a fair, democratic and effective manner. President Sang said Vietnam is ready to effectively undertake regional economic linkage to contribute the multilateral trade system. He announced Vietnam's readiness to host the 25th APEC summit  in 2017.

Under the theme, “Resilient Asia-Pacific, Engine of Global Growth”, this year’s APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting focus on the current global economic situation and APEC’s role in promoting multilateral trade, a vision for evolving regional and global architectures, and sustainable growth that supports equality, food security, water resources, and energy.

The same day, President Sang attended a banquet and an art program of Indonesian ethnic groups hosted by Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono for APEC leaders.

The summit will conclude  on late Tuesday.
