The trip is made at the invitation of General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and President of China Xi Jinping. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Vu told the press that President Vo Van Thuong's trip to China is extremely important on both bilateral and multilateral level.

On the multilateral level, President Vo Van Thuong’s participation demonstrates Vietnam's strong commitment to multilateralism and active role in strengthening regional and global economic cooperation and connectivity. He will join leaders and representatives of more than 140 countries and international organizations to discuss the new driving forces for national and global economic recovery such as green transformation, digital transformation, digital innovation, modern agriculture, small and medium-sized enterprise development, and startups.

Bilaterally, the leaders of both countries highly appreciate President Thuong’s trip. This is a high-level diplomatic activity this year to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Vn-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership (2008-2023).

Meetings between President Vo Van Thuong and key Chinese leaders will contribute to strengthening political trust, maintaining momentum for relations, and creating new opportunities for cooperation. The two sides will discuss measures to enhance exchanges at all levels, promote more sustainable and balanced economic, trade and investment relations, strengthen cooperation in infrastructure, especially within the framework of the "Two Corridors, One Belt" and "One Belt, One Road", and create extremely important cooperative directions for Vietnamese ministries, sectors, and localities to coordinate with Chinese partners to elevate bilateral relations to a new phase with higher political trust, more practical cooperation, and better resolutions for disagreement.
