(VOVWORLD) - US President-elect Donald Trump said Tuesday that he has tapped Jamieson Greer, a trade lawyer, to be the next US trade representative.
Jamieson Greer served as the chief of staff to the former US trade representative Robert Lighthizer during Mr. Trump's first term.
President-elect Trump said Jamieson Greer's main duties will focus on “reining in the country's massive trade deficit, defending American manufacturing, agriculture, and services, and opening up export markets everywhere.”
If approved by the Senate, Jamieson Greer will take on a role that President-elect Trump hopes will advance his trade agenda.
