(VOVworld) - Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and his Deputy Vu Van Ninh have chaired an online national discussion to review poverty reduction and draft plan for this year. The Prime Minister asked ministries to promote sustainable poverty reduction with more involvement of the poor, more beneficiary access, and raising public trust in the political system.

He said the Party and State always care for the poor in all circumstances: “The world considers social welfare, social advancement and equality as core values of the humankind. Poverty reduction has been a target in Vietnam’s national development and sustainable growth. The government has asked ministries and provinces to consider poverty reduction a key political task and a criterion to measure local government’s success in their mission.”
Vietnam aims to reduce the poverty rate among households to below 5% this year.
