“Red Journey” collects 48,000 blood units

(VOVworld) – The “Red Journey” blood drive has collected 48 thousand units of blood this year, said the program’s organisers at the closing ceremony on Sunday.

48 thousand units of blood were donated throughout the event.

Nguyen Anh Tri, Director of the National Institute of Haematology and Blood Transfusion, said the 2014 blood drive conducted several activities in 25 cities and provinces, including organizing blood donation events, marches, and art performances, in an effort to raise social awareness of voluntary blood donation and thalassemia disease. The event, which was strongly supported by the government, sectors, and people across the nation, drew the participation of approximately 15 thousand volunteers.
