Regional representatives to discuss North Korea's nuclear test

(VOVworld) - Regional representatives involved in the six-party nuclear negotiations with North Korea will hold a series of talks this week to discuss their response to the North's recent nuclear test last week, South Korea’s Foreign Ministry said Monday.

Hwang Joon-kook, South Korea's special representative for Korean Peninsula peace and security affairs, will meet with his US and Japanese counterparts, Sung Kim and Kimihiro Ishikane, in Seoul on Wednesday to discuss possible responses to the North's test. Their discussions will cover bilateral and multilateral measures, including a "strong and comprehensive" UN Security Council resolution.

On Thursday, Hwang will visit China to hold similar talks with his Chinese counterpart, Wu Dawei. Talks are underway to arrange a meeting between the South Korean envoy and his Russian counterpart, Igor Morgulov.
