Russia criticizes US, UK for putting pressure on former spy investigation
(VOVWORLD) - The UK’s unreasonable allegations and the US new sanctions against Russia regarding the poisoning of former spy Sergei Skripal aim to put pressure on the investigation, Russian Embassy in the UK said on Friday.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said President Vladimir Putin discussed possible new US sanctions against Russia with his Security Council on Friday, saying the latest round of sanctions was absolutely illegal under international law.
The same day, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo talked by telephone to discuss Washington’s new sanctions against Moscow amid escalating tension of relations. Lavrov said Moscow completely rejects the sanctions.
