The Russian Foreign Minister says that Moscow is ready to begin a dialog with all sides in Syria and does not support any party in the 21-month conflict in Syria. A Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman said yesterday that Russia does not exclude the possibility of reconnecting with the Opposition Alliance in Syria. According to Moscow, whether Syria’s President Bashar al-Assad continues to lead the country or not depends on the Syrians. The spokesman also insisted that the armed conflict in Syria can not be resolved by mere political solutions. In an announcement yesterday, Syria’s opposition said it would not acknowledge Bashar al-Assad in any political transition. Opposition Alliance spokesman Walid al-Bunni indicated that this bloc would accept a political solution only if that solution excludes President Bashar al-Assad and his family members and the first condition is that these people have to leave Syria.
