(VOVworld) – Russia called on the US to help seek a political solution to the Syria crisis, said Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Addressing the “Russia Calling” investment forum on Tuesday, President Putin proposed a high-level meeting in Moscow and said Russia can send a high-level delegation to Washington D.C. to discuss the Syria crisis, but there has been no response from Washington so far.
Mr Putin rejected the West’s accusations that Russia seeks leadership in Syria, saying that there is only one leader in Syria – the Syrian people. Mr Putin said Russia is trying to fight terrorism, which is a threat to the entire world, and insisted Russia’s anti-IS operations in Syria are in full conformity with the UN Charter and international law.
