(VOVworld) - The Russian forces in Syria are tasked with stabilizing the legitimate authorities and seeking political measures to deal with the crisis in this country.

In an interview on Russia’s Rossiya 1 television channel on Sunday regarding Russia’s anti-terrorism campaign in Syria, Mr. Putin said that if Syrian army could prove its anti-terrorism abilities, the possibility for a political resolution would be higher. He added that Russia had worked out a plan to fight Islamic State in Syria in which Russia would scout with satellites and planes and cooperate with its Syrian partners and other regional countries. President Putin also affirmed that Russia would not become involved in ground operations in Syria. He called on the US-led coalition against IS to share information on IS bases in Syria, but those countries refused to cooperate.
