(VOVworld) – Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and US Secretary of State John Kerry discussed the situations in Ukraine, Syria, Iran, Yemen, and Libya in a telephone call on Tuesday, Russia’s Foreign Ministry said.

The two foreign chiefs agreed that the parties involved in the Ukraine conflict needed to abide by the Minsk ceasefire agreement and expressed their support for a meeting of the Ukraine Contact Group in Minsk. The Group, and its subgroups, are expected to meet in Minsk on Tuesday to discuss ways to resolve the conflict in the Donbass region.
The OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine said on Tuesday that clashes near Donetsk airport were escalating.
