In an article entitled “Hanoi’s bamboo diplomacy” published on Friday, the paper said when President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam in Hanoi in 1945, no country in the world recognized or established diplomatic relations with Vietnam. But over the last 79 years, Vietnam has established diplomatic relations with 193 countries, including a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with 7 countries.

The article wrote that throughout the history of the independent Vietnam, the Communist Party of Vietnam has considered diplomacy the most important part of the revolutionary struggle for independence, self-reliance, progressive development and advancement towards socialism.

Today the diplomatic sector is given a pioneering role in protecting national interests. The article affirmed that with "bamboo diplomacy", Vietnam is maintaining relations with all countries that are willing to cooperate with it in the principles of equality and mutually beneficial cooperation.
