Quan Su is the third of four major pagodas in Vietnam selected to host the relics for public veneration.
Before being enshrined at Quan Su Pagoda for public viewing and worship from Wednesday to Friday, the relics were ceremonially paraded around Hoan Kiem Lake located at the heart of the capital city. Devotees from across the country gathered along the streets to witness the sacred procession.
Tens of thousands of people line the streets to welcome the Buddha relics. |
“We’ve been preparing for nearly a month for this special event. We pray for peace and national development,” said a Buddhist follower.
“I’m very happy and honored to be here to witness the relic of the Buddha. I look forward to more events like this,” said another devotee.
From Saturday to next Wednesday, the relics will be enshrined at Tam Chuc Pagoda in Ha Nam province before being returned to India.
