"With the aim of becoming an industrialized nation by 2030 and a high-income, developed country by 2045, we must treat science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation as key drivers.” the Party leader said at a national conference in Hanoi on Monday on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation.
These are the golden keys to overcoming the middle-income trap and the risk of falling behind, while achieving Vietnam’s aspirations for a strong and prosperous nation, he said.
Mr. Lam stressed the importance of completing institutional frameworks this year to remove barriers and unleash creative potential. Infrastructure development and the cultivation of a highly skilled workforce were also highlighted as critical for advancing science, technology, and innovation.
"Promoting science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation is not merely an option but a survival pathway," Mr. Lam stated. "Leaders at all levels must treat this as a central political task; scientists and businesses must contribute and innovate; and the public must engage, learn, and enhance their digital skills."
The conference, connected to over 15,000 venues nationwide, reviewed the progress of key resolutions by the Party Central Committee, the Secretariat, and the Politburo on science and technology development, especially the Politburo’s Resolution 57-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation, and national digital transformation.
