Arsala Rahmani, senior Afghan peace negotiator, was shot dead in Kabul on Sunday.

Rahmani was a consultant of President Hamid Karzai and also a key member of Afghanistan's High Peace Council, which is leading Afghan efforts to make peace with the Taliban. Rahmani was shot on his way to work by an unidentified gunman. Afghan officials have not made any comment, and no organization or individual has yet claimed responsibility for the murder.
