Seoul Halloween crush: Body of Vietnamese victim brought home

(VOVWORLD) -The body of a Vietnamese national (female, born in 2001), who was killed in a crowd crush disaster in Itaewon neighborhood in Seoul, South Korea, on October 29 night, would be repatriated on a flight from Incheon to Ho Chi Minh City on Wednesday afternoon, the Korean Police Agency said earlier the same day.

The Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs has decided to support 20 million won (more than 14,000 USD) in consolation and 15 million won (10,500 USD) in funeral expenses for the victim's family. The cost of transporting the body home is included in the cost of the funeral.

A respect-paying service for the Vietnamese citizen was held on Monday at Bucheon Hospital mortuary, which was attended by Minister Counsellor at the Vietnamese Embassy Nguyen Viet Anh and Korean Minister of Foreign Affairs Park Jin sent a wreath.

More than 150 people, mostly teenagers and young adults in their 20s, were killed in a crush when a huge crowd celebrating Halloween surged into an alley in a nightlife area of the South Korean capital Seoul on Saturday night.
