South Korea releases information about black box of crashed plane

(VOVWORLD) - On January 11, South Korea's Ministry of Transport announced that the flight data recorder (FDR) and cockpit voice recorder (CVR) on the Jeju Air Boeing 737-800 ceased functioning four minutes before the aircraft crashed into a concrete wall at Muan Airport on December 29.

The extraction of data from the black box began on January 9.

The black box had been sent to the US National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) in Washington for analysis. South Korean authorities stated that several factors had to be carefully evaluated before transferring this critical evidence abroad for repairs and data retrieval.
